PROMO BLITZ: Madly by M. Leighton

Madly is your average nearly-eighteen year old girl—for a princess, that is.

Madly James is thoroughly enjoying her internship in the small town of Slumber when the unthinkable happens—there’s a prison break in Atlas, the magically-protected home of Madly’s race. A traitor has set free eight Lore, the spirits of what humans know as fairy tales, and they are making their way to Slumber to awaken their descendants.

The first spirit to arrive is that of Ulrich Wolfhardt, a man that was once obsessed with wolves and a young maiden he would follow through the woods. After a bite from a wolf, Wolfhardt’s obsession with the girl became an unnatural hunger and the young maiden’s grandmother cursed him with a fate worse than death. And now he’s back…with a vengeance and a bite that can infect others as well.

Madly must learn the identity of Wolfhardt’s descendant and stop him before he kills again and spreads his curse across the earth. But the only person strong enough to help Madly is Jackson, the Sentinel who vowed to protect her and the one person capable of breaking her heart. Can Madly resist forbidden love long enough to save the world from Wolfhardt? Or will she have to sacrifice her heart and her destiny to save the ones she loves?

How deep does love run? Deeper than the ocean? Deeper than memory? Deeper than magic?

Following their plan to save Atlas, Madly and Jackson return the spirit of Wolfhardt to his prison beneath the sea. But even the best laid plans couldn’t account for the surprises they find. This time, Lore aren’t their only challenges.

Madly is special in ways no one could have guessed and dark forces seek to control her. They want her power, but first they must weaken her. They need her beaten. Vulnerable. Near death. And alone. But that task isn’t an easy one with Jackson at her side. The strongest of their kind, the only way to separate Jackson from Madly is to destroy his love for her, to erase it from his mind. And his heart.

Is it possible to steal Jackson’s love from Madly? Or is their love the only truly unbreakable thing?

Parents:  Hennessey and Ophelia James

Q:  What are your favorite foods?
A:  I love lasagna.  And pizza.  Anything with cheese really.  That is one of my favorite things on dry land—cheese!
Q:  Anything else?
A:  I also love strawberry shortcake.  Oh and popcorn.  Especially the kind you get at the movie theater, you know with all that fake butter.  I love that stuff!
Q:  What’s your favorite color?
A:  Purple.  Any shade. I just love purple.
Q: What are you favorite activities?
A:  I love hanging out with Jersey.  She’s my best friend, of course, but she is so genuine and so entertaining.  Honestly, you never know what might come out of that girl’s mouth.  And she loves adventure.  We used to stay in trouble when we were kids, when she could talk me into pretty much anything.  Of course, I used to talk her into doing stupid things, too.  I guess we’re even.
Q:  Anything else?
A:  I like watching old movies.  We don’t have movies in Atlas, so it’s something I enjoy about dry land.  I also really love just sitting on the beach at night and listening to the waves crash against the shore.  That’s something I’d never heard before my first trip to dry land and, even then, I didn’t really get to sit and listen to it very much.  Now that I’m in Slumber, that’s something I found that I really enjoy.
Q:  What kinds of things did you like doing in Atlas?
A:  Swimming with blue whales was always something I found relaxing when I was allowed outside the shield.  Oh and chasing an octopus.  When I was little, I’d try to scare them and make them ink.
Q:  What’s your mission?
A:  My mission?  You mean other than to sneak up on Jackson?  (laughs)  That’s one thing I am determined to do one day.  I just haven’t quite figured out how yet.
Q:  Speaking of Jackson, what is your favorite thing about him?
A:  There are a lot.  And I mean a lot, but oddly enough, one of my favorite things about him is the one that usually poses the biggest problem for us.  I love that he is a Sentinel through and through.  His dedication to Atlas and to the Mer is something that he lives and breathes every day of his life.  He would risk anything for it.  For us.  I admire his selflessness.
Q:  What’s your favorite weakness of his, then?
A:  Me.  I know how much he must love me to ever make Atlas or our people his second consideration.  Knowing that changes my life.  Every day.

Fallen Too Far was Blaire's story. Now it's time for Rush to share his side.

Everyone in Rosemary Beach thinks they know how Rush Finlay and Blaire Wynn fell in love. But Rush is back to tell his side of the story...

Rush has earned every bit of his bad-boy reputation. The three-story beach house, luxury car, and line of girls begging for time between his sheets are the envy of every guy in Rosemary Beach, and Rush handles it all with the laid-back cool of a rock star’s son. All he needs are his best friend, Grant, and his sister, Nan.

Until Blaire Wynn drives into town in her beat-up pickup truck with a pistol under her seat. The Alabama farm girl instantly captures Rush’s attention once he discovers that the angelic beauty is his new stepsister, but he vows to keep his distance. Even if she needs his help. Even if he craves her.

Because Rush knows why Blaire is all alone in the world, forced to ask for help from the father who abandoned her three years ago. And he knows if he gets too close it will destroy Nan, who has a secret connection to Blaire.

He has every reason in the world to stay away from her. Find out why he doesn’t.

Headlights filled the driveway, and I let out the breath I was holding. She was home. I waited until she was out of the truck and at the door before I opened it. I wasn't giving her a chance to run from me.

She stood there in front of me then glanced around at my feet as if she were expecting to find something.

"Where have you been?" I asked, trying not to sounds as frustrated as I was.

"What does it matter?" She asked. She wasn't angry. She looked confused.

I closed the little bit of space between us. "Because I was worried," I said honestly. She needed to know. She'd scared me.

"I find that real hard to believe. You were too busy with your company for the night to notice much of anything." The distaste in her voice was obvious.

"You came earlier than I expected. I didn't mean for you to witness that," I said, knowing it sounded bad as I said it. But I didn't have an excuse. Even if I wished I did.

She shifted her feet and let out a sigh. "I came home the same time I do every night. I think you wanted me to see you. Why, I'm not sure. I'm not harboring feelings for you, Rush. I just need a place to stay for a few more days. I'll be moving out of your house and your life real soon."

Damn her. She was going to make me feel. I couldn't fucking feel. Not with her. Closing my eyes, I muttered a curse and tried to calm myself down. "There are things about you don't know. I;m not one of those guys you can wrap around your finger. I have baggage. Lots of it. Too much for someone like you. I expected someone so different, considering I've met your father. But you're nothing like him. You're everything a guy like me should stay away from. Because I'm not right for you."

Summary

A hot and consuming New Adult romance about a wayward musician and the one girl who keeps him grounded…

At college, Rachel has a reputation for being a sarcastic flirt with a thing for star athletes. No one at school knows that she’d had her heart ripped to shreds by her high school sweetheart, who’d driven them both off the side of the road on a borrowed motorcycle, and then abandoned her. No one knows the real Rachel Mattson—except one person…

Ever since he helped nurse his sister’s feisty best friend back to health, pierced bass player Kai Nakos has been head over heels in love. But the supposed bad boy can’t risk letting Rachel know the truth—especially now that the two of them are back in their hometown for the summer, together for the first time since the months following that fateful night. Never mind that Rachel’s ex is back, groveling for her forgiveness.

Shaken by her ex’s return, Rachel finds herself turning to the one guy she knows she can trust. Kai is willing to hide his feelings for her, just to have Rachel touch him again. After all, this is only a temporary fling. Until it becomes something more. But maybe it had been more all along.

Excerpt

I padded to the kitchen and reached for a glass, unsure if Kai was even awake. As I turned

the faucet on low, I heard it—the soft hum of his bass. My heart leapt in my chest. I didn’t know

what the hell I was so anxious about. But the anticipation of seeing him, just talking to him alone,

had revved my pulse to a feverish tempo.

But maybe he didn’t want any company tonight.

I wandered over to his door, unsure of what I’d say or even if I’d knock. Instead, I stood

motionless, listening to him play. It was a low and drowsy strum, and I swayed against the wall,

my senses dulled. During a longer pause, my knuckles tapped once and then twice against the

wood.

I heard the sounds of what could have been his returning his heavy bass to its stand and

papers rustling, and then the door slowly creaked open. Kai stood in front of me with his hair

hanging loose at his shoulders. He had on those obscenely tight gray skinny jeans from earlier

and nothing else.

My gaze followed the line of his neck, across his shoulder, to the muscular biceps propping

the door open. I spotted the set of free weights resting beneath the stand of his bass. He’d

definitely been working out in the three years since I’d last seen him. He wasn’t overly muscular

like some athletes I’d been with, just lean and fit.

My gaze tripped over to his sculpted pecs and landed on his nipples. His pierced nipples—

that seemed to harden at my perusal.

Fuck, that was hot. Since when did I think silver hoops dangling from a guy’s nipples were

sexy? But on Kai, they worked. Like fruit waiting to be plucked, they hung above the trunk of his

sculpted abdomen, while a smattering of fine hairs branched from beneath the button of his pants.

Hot damn.

“What’s up, Rachel?” He swallowed thickly. “Did I wake you?”

“I . . .” I finally met his eyes. “I couldn’t sleep and I heard you were up.”

“Yeah, me neither.” He moved aside to allow me to pass into the room. “I was trying to be

quiet.”

“Actually, most of the time your music lulls me to sleep.”

“Yeah?” he said in a low and gruff voice. “Is that why you’re here—so I can put you to

sleep?”

“No, you ass.” I grinned. “Well, maybe.”

When his eyes turned dark, I mumbled, “Just kidding.”
